Gillian Forsyth: 17 years with diabetes
Gillian was spurred to action by her diagnosis with diabetes at the age of 30. Within a year of diagnosis she ran her first of 23 marathons, including running the Boston Marathon 3 times. As though running wasn’t enough, Gillian has also competed in numerous Ironman 70.3 and full Ironman distance triathlons. And to top that off, she does many gravel races, including the amazing accomplishment of completing the Dirty Kanza last year, a 200-mile gravel race in Kansas. Competing diabetes in these types of events is a huge challenge, and Gillian has been lucky to work with many other athletes with diabetes to manage the struggle.
In addition to working in finance, Gillian is a USA Triathlon Level 1 Coach and a Newton Natural Running Coach. She enjoys reading dystopian novels, sailing, playing piano, and traveling. You can also follow her personal blog at www.endurancediabetic.com.
